Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce


**Homemade Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce** **Ingredients:** - 6 ripe tomatoes, chopped - 1 onion, finely diced - 3 cloves garlic, minced - 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped - 2 tablespoons olive oil - 1 teaspoon sugar - Salt and pepper to taste - 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano - 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) **Instructions:** 1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until softened. 2. Add chopped tomatoes, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20-25 minutes until tomatoes break down and the sauce thickens. 3. Stir in fresh basil, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes if desired. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes. 4. Use a blender or immersion blender to puree the sauce to your desired consistency. 
5. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
