- Freshly grated coconut

**Instructions:**

**Prepare Khamani:**

1. **Soak and Grind Chana Dal:**
   - Soak chana dal in water for about 3-4 hours or overnight. Drain the water and grind it into a coarse paste without using much water.

2. **Prepare Batter:**
   - In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chana dal paste, yogurt, green chilies, ginger paste, turmeric powder, asafoetida, and salt. Mix well.

3. **Steam the Batter:**
