- Curry leaves
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup grated coconut

- Sev (fried gram flour noodles)
- Freshly grated coconut
- Chopped cilantro
- Chopped tomatoes
**Instructions:**
**Prepare Khamani:**
1. **Soak and Grind Chana Dal:**
- Soak chana dal in water for about 3-4 hours or overnight. Drain the water and grind it into a coarse paste without using much water.
2. **Prepare Batter:**
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chana dal paste, yogurt, green chilies, ginger paste, turmeric powder, asafoetida, and salt. Mix well.
3. **Steam the Batter:**
- Grease a steaming plate or dish and pour the batter into it.
- Steam the batter for about 15-20 minutes or until it's cooked and firm to touch.
4. **Prepare Tempering:**
- In a separate pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, and slit green chilies.
- Add grated coconut and sauté for a minute. Remove from heat.
5. **Crumble Khamani:**
- Once the steamed batter cools slightly, crumble it into small pieces.
6. **Mix the Tempering:**
- Add the prepared tempering to the crumbled khamani. Mix well.

- To serve, place a portion of the khamani mixture on a plate.

- Garnish with sev, freshly grated coconut, chopped cilantro, and chopped tomatoes.
